About
Monvo reads your bank accounts and tells you the exact money move to make.
Your bank shows you what you spent. Monvo tells you what to do about it: the forgotten subscriptions, the idle cash, the specific moves in dollars. Read-only, built for Canadians.
Why Monvo exists
Most personal finance apps are dashboards. They show you charts of money you already spent and leave the thinking to you. When you are early in your career and every dollar matters, another chart is not what you need. You need someone to point at the exact move: cancel this, move that, keep this.
That is what Monvo does. Connect a bank account or upload a statement, and Monvo flags what your bank will not tell you, with specific dollar figures instead of generic advice.
The money most Canadians leave on the table
A standard chequing account at a big Canadian bank costs about $15.95 to $17.95 per month, roughly $200 a year, while federally-mandated low-cost accounts cap fees at $4 per month (Financial Consumer Agency of Canada; MoneySense). Most people never check which one they have.
Forgotten subscriptions are the other quiet leak. They sit on statements for months because nobody reads every line. Monvo reads every line.
How Monvo works
- Connect or upload. Link a Canadian bank through Plaid (read-only, Monvo never sees your password), or upload a PDF statement.
- Monvo reads everything. Every transaction is categorized and scanned for subscriptions, recurring charges, and idle cash.
- You get the move. Specific recommendations in dollars: what to cancel, what to move, what to keep. Plus a weekly letter with your one money move.
Who it is for
Young Canadians who recently started working and want to keep their finances in check. If you just got your first real paycheque and have no system for that money yet, Monvo is built for you.
Trust
Monvo is read-only by construction. It cannot move your money, and it never receives your banking password. Tokens are encrypted, data is protected under Canada's PIPEDA privacy law, and you can delete everything at any time.
